Warhammer Academic work

In early 2024 I became aware of an upcoming conference focusing on a broad range of academic topics exploring the world of Warhammer. Co-created by Dr Mike Ryder at the University of Lancaster and Dr Thomas Arnold of The University of Heidelberg, it was to be the world's first meeting of like-minded academics and I was very keen to be involved. As such, I submitted a paper exploring the place of intertextuality in writing licensed products based on my experiences as a Warhammer author. It was quite well received, and led to me offering to co-organise the subsequent two conferences, the latest of which can be found here.

While I did not present a paper this year, I was a keynote speaker in 2025, the title of which can be seen in the caption on the bottom left. For the first two years these conferences were hosted at the University of Heidelberg, with it transferring to the University of Frankfurt in 2026 - they were also broadcast live, allowing a much broader range of people to attend.

All of this hard work has culminated in a commission from Routledge's academic press for an edited volume of papers based on the presentations over the last three years. Scheduled for publication in the latter part of 2027, I am delighted to be including my own paper and will be co-editing the monograph. More details will be published when I know them.
