Current projects

 

With the regrettable demise of the 'Star Trek Explorer' magazine, I have taken the opportunity to focus on something I have always wanted to write but have never really had the time - a full-length high fantasy book. Tentatively entitled 'Descendant: A Sentinels of Kasmadorn novel', this first title in the trilogy is already written with the second and third roughly drafted out. Things may have to change with it - I'm currently looking for representation and I've been writing professionally long enough to know your work's only as good as it can be at the time and is never 'finished' - but I think it's the best thing I've ever written and am hopeful it'll be able to get 'out there' sooner rather than later.

'Descendant' is very much in the Joe Abercrombie/Mark Lawrence camp; gritty, nasty, uncompromising but rich in worldbuilding and strong on character. There's big-scale battles, bloody intrigue and political machinations aplenty - if I had to give an elevator pitch, I'd say it was 'wizards with particle beam weapons'. There's a lot of action.
